Dirty Pretty Things (2002): Audrey Tautou (of The Fabulous Destiny of Amelie Poulain, where she played a similar role) is about an actress playing her heart out in a role whose character seeks an identity (a US passport). For this she both prostitutes herself and prepares to (literally) give a kidney. This is set up by the highly dualistic tone of the thing.
