I have been enjoying your comments at Imdb for 2 years.
They are the highlight of the site. This might be hard to believe, but your comments have helped me rediscover a side of my self I had forgotten. And you have inspired me to write again. Thank you for your alchemy and your architecture.
I have been meaning to express my gratitude for some time, but did not want to intrude...
Please don't stop posting your comments. Each one is appreciated!

Ted, I am your biggest fan.

I found your comments about [omitted] fascinating. Although I'm not a Shakespeare Scholar, I wonder if you, or anyone else, has published a study of Hariot's magical studies and *The Tempest* The connection is certainly convincing as a key to the film, but I haven't found anything else on the web that detailed this case. If nothing else does exist, I entreat you to publish your own study.
Thank you for the epiphany!

Well, when the book is published, I'll be delighted to read it!

I came across your criticisms on the IMDB quite by accident. I find many of your reviews quite insightful, unlike 99% that are written. The reason being for your seemingly vast knowledge on story structure, camera view, and movie history. To satisfy my own curiosity, do you teach film or what is your job and how did you get interested in film?
Thankyou for your reviews.

please never stop posting IMDB comments... and what exactly are the '14 ways to fold a story inside out' ?... Make sure that's included in your book.

Dude, I laughed my ass off to tears when I read you comment on [omitted]. You are a very talented(and candid) critic.

You don't know me but I promise this isn't spam or anything like that. I was just hovering around IMDB and ran across a couple of your reviews and wanted to write. I find your reviews interesting and thoughtful. It's a far cry from the "Whoa! That was cool!" type of reviews I've grown so tired of reading.
I wish I could have a discussion with you about film because I think you could open my eyes about some things... I am slowly catching on to your idea of "folding" and would like to know more.

Hey - I read your review on IMDB about [omitted]. Very interesting analysis... I don't think I ever read a review before that made me think before.
Thanks. Then I looked for who wrote it, and saw the MIT in the email. Aha - no surprise. Good point.

believe it or not you are a modern-day prophet.

I really enjoy reading your comments on imdb.com and feel that you impart some interesting theories about cinema. Thank you... When is your website/ online book going to be up and running, by the way? Thanks Again

Your point of view has helped me clarifying my thoughts about things I like... I really hope that the book you're writing about film is finished some day - I'm waiting for it!

I often take to reading your reviews of films I have seen to compare your own perspective to that I have taken away from it. I also often take your reviews into account when deciding which film I would like to see, and I greatly respect your opinion.

I've just spent about a week reading some of your 1700 or so comments on films, and I'm extremely fascinated by your ideas... I was also wondering if you had a list somewhere of all the films you have given your highest rating.

when will your book will be available? i've read all your comments- actually, i have a database of your comments that's split into categories like "the camera", "folding", "acting", etc, and i have seen and/or own all of your required and worth watching films, but i still feel as though i'm not fully understanding the art of film.

I've been reading some of your movie reviews lately and was interested in what you had to say. I'm still trying to understand this whole "folding" concept, something I've never heard of before. I first noticed your review about the [omitted], a movie that I found highly interesting and have purchased and find it better each time I watch it.

I read some of your reviews on the IMDB. Would you be interested in reading a script and reacting?

This may seem odd but I just wanted to write you and tell you that I truly appreciate your intelligent, if sometimes slightly caustic, movie reviews on imdb.com. I think my favorite reviews are the ones where I totally disagree with nearly everything you've said... Again thanks for the great reviews and keep it up!

Hello, I'm a young film maker, and I'm highly interested in your writings on IMDB. I'm curious to know how far along you are with your book dealing with narrative folding.

I'm doing a film course at [omitted] but am getting increasingly worried about the content of my course... The point of all this is that I have found more interest form you're imdb comments - and the reasearch they have lead me to do and films they have lead me to watch - than my film course for this year.

Accept my profuse salutations for writing your comments on IMDB. Your expositions changed my biased view about Americans in general as being imbecilic. Henceforth I shall not be too quick to judge... I express my sincere gratitude.

Thank you for your refreshing criticism. It seems like you always look for the positive in a film instead of gratuitously degrading it should it not fit a particular compartment of your taste.

Something I don't normally do... I came across your critique for [omitted] and I must say, I enjoyed it thoroughly. I had wondered if anyone else noticed the [omitted]. I was pleased to see that you deciphered the scene, and the ending, eloquently. The power of elegant discourse is in short demand in our times. However, few still find true gems in intelligent, cohesive thought.

When I first came across your writing, my reaction was not unlike those you keep in your Negative Comments section of SB. Even if we both liked a film, we seemed to like it for different reasons(my reasons, for example, were good.) Still you made an impression, and the more movie URLs I visited, the more your comments appeared as featured content. Slowly, steadily, my hipster assessment of your "reviews" as pompous, self-indulgent malarky not only gave way to the notion that you knew what you were talking about, but more importantly, that what you were talking about had the potential to change my life. A funny thing happened on the way to the forum--I found myself wanting to see movies the way that you did. Because the world, in it's current state, scares me. The future scares me.

I'm an avid reader of your IMDb comments and have been since I discovered you shared my adoration for [omitted]...Keep reviewing, you're the best one IMDb has!
